The Aviary

“The Aviary” is a beautifully-restored and artfully updated 2BR/2BA, 1920s bungalow, located in the very heart of the quaint little mountain town of Mentone, Alabama. Its park-like setting is filled with native and cultivated species of plants, which attract myriad birds to the plentiful feeders located in its environs. Perfectly situated to allow for a quiet, personal retreat, it also affords visitors the option to walk and explore the town’s popular restaurants, artisan shops, art gallery and cultural center.   A rocking chair front porch welcomes you to The Aviary. You’ll find it to be a delightful spot to enjoy your morning coffee, gather with friends, or to unwind after a day of hiking, shopping or sight-seeing.   The interior space offers a cozy living area, filled with the art collection of the owner, who is a renowned sculpture artist. Comfort and beauty, a little whimsy thrown in for fun, and the charm that only a 20s bungalow can offer, are to be enjoyed throughout the home.  The unique, custom-made dining table is a work of utilitarian sculpture in itself, and seats 6 comfortably. With additional seating for 4 in the kitchen.  Fully-equipped kitchen with a sunny window and everything you will need to prep meals! Don’t forget to ask us about having your groceries delivered and put away for you when you arrive, if you don’t want to stop on your way in.  Two bedrooms with high-quality, comfy, “I don’t wanna get up” cotton bedding & bamboo pillows. Sleeping in will be a breeze from these cozy bedrooms!  The back sun porch is a library, a dining area, a relaxation spot, and it offers access to the hot tub. The large back deck opens to a fenced yard and also features a gas grill and plenty of room to relax and enjoy nature.   Mentone offers artist's & antique shops and restaurants. Nearby activities include golf, DeSoto State Park, Little River Canyon National Preserve, camping, hiking along rivers & waterfalls. Evenings are for grabbing your favorite wine and heading to brow park to enjoy some of the best sunsets you've ever seen!  This beautiful bungalow is also pet friendly with a fenced back yard. If you’re looking to have a family or friends gathering, and a bit more space is desired, Blue Crest Cottage is located next door.
